Aizan Development Foundation (ADF) in Collaboration with Telenor and Khiva successfully held an event on to commemorate “Universal Children Day” at SOS children Village H11 Opposite NUST University, Islamabad on Thursday 24th November 2016. The event started at 2pm with a discussion on Child Rights with a focus on Overview of child rights, Pakistan’s obligation towards child rights, UNCRC and History of universal Children’s day. An Art Competition, sports competition and video on safe internet followed the session.

The event had a tremendous turnout in which over 100 children participated. In addition to the participants, the event welcomed many individuals and social activists working on promoting and protecting Children’s Rights. The organizations included Plan International, Save the Children, Child Rights Movement (CRM) and UGOOD. The purpose of this event was to celebrate Universal Children Day and educate the Children about their rights and Pakistan’s Obligation as per the Convention on the Rights of the Children as well as the achievements of the Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs).
Mr Sajjad Cheema from Save the Children and Founding Member of CRM presented the “UNCRC overview, Pakistan’s obligation and why we celebrate universal children day. Ms Fatima Raja, Manger Department of law TMUC gave an overview of child rights-Pakistan’s obligation to Pakistani children-sharing of success stories. Ms Uzma Shahid, CCCD Country Coordinator plan International Pakistan gave a brief discussion on what is child protection?
