Aizan Development Foundation took the opportunity of World Day against Child Labour, which lies on June 12 of every year, and bore an event with street working children as participants. The event consisted of two matches; football and badminton, respectively.
For the football match, ADF team gathered and selected sixteen young boys, who were involved in labor instead of being in schools. While for the badminton match, a total of eight working girls under the age of 18 were chosen as participants. Several meetings and practice sessions were conducted with the participants before the final day.
The children arrived at the venue in the afternoon of June 12, 2015, and were gathered around. The Volunteer Task Force, ADF, delivered sessions to them regarding United Nations Child Rights Convention (UNCRC), World Day against Child Labour, and why Aizan Development Foundation had decided to involve that group of children with them.
The matches, that went side by side, in the multipurpose ground of G-11 Markaz, Islamabad, were intense and exhilarating, at the end, however, the Chief Guest, DG Sports and Culture, Mr Asif Shahjahan, presented both teams (of both boys and girls) with trophies. That was when the ADF team enlightened everybody with their message, that there were no losers among the teams, and that the matches were, in fact, between Childhood and Labor, and that Child Labour had lost today.
The event ended once lunch had been distributed among all participants. The children, all of them, wore huge smiles on their faces as they returned home.
